Colorado Guidance on Opening Outdoor Pools
HOAs and the Boards have the responsibility to manage their Association’s amenities, which may include a pool. We recommend consulting with the HOA’s legal counsel and insurance agent to determine if the Boards should open the pool in 2021. If your Board votes to open the pool, here are some state and local government requirements and recommendations.
ASSOCIATIONS
Requirements:
· Disinfect all shared equipment and frequently touched surfaces every hour.
· Clean and disinfect restrooms and locker areas every hour if open for resident usage.
· Have residents wear masks in indoor facilities if they are open (locker rooms/restrooms).
· Check your County’s specific requirements, including maximum occupancy restrictions.
Recommendations:
· Have a reservation system to limit attendees and for potential contact tracing.
· Provide waivers for using the pool.
· Post Signs regarding COVID Pool Rules in multiple places.
· Provide physical cues to promote social distancing (such as tape).
· Remove shared tables, chairs, or other shared equipment usually available.
· Close restrooms or lockers or close off some lockers to encourage social distancing.
· Provide hand sanitizer if restrooms are closed.
· Allow lap swim only.
· Only allow residents to use the pool (no guests).
OWNERS AND RESIDENTS
Requirements:
· Follow HOA’s Pool Rules and Regulations.
· Physically distance at least 6 ft from members of other households.
· Stay at home if experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.
· Quarantine if have been in close contact with a person confirmed to have COVID-19.
Recommendations:
